We are committed to eco-friendly cycling trips and bringing a sustainable travel experience to the areas we visit. By joining us on a trip in the West of Ireland you are helping to preserve the regions in which you visit.

We are an authentic Irish Bike Tour Company. Established in 1997 in Atlanta, Georgia, CycleWest Ireland is a specialist Bike Tour Company that offers tailor made family adventures, guided, independent tours throughout the West Coast of Ireland: Connemara, the Burren region, the Aran Islands are the regions we concentrate our tours in.

Founders of CycleWest  Ireland
Passionate about biking, Founder and Managing Director, Fidelma Ray, has worked in the financial industry in Atlanta, Georgia. A cycling enthusiast, Fidelma saw a unique opportunity for the creation of multisport biking itineraries in the West of Ireland.   Fidelma completed her MBA at the National University of Ireland, Galway. She travels extensively throughout Europe, the US and Africa. Her most memorable trip is one in which she and her daughter, Alison, travelled to Mount Everest Base Camp (17,600 ft) with the Irish Everest Expedition.

Fidelma is a lead auditor with Ecotourism Ireland - an organisation that has been set up to stimulate the development of ecotourism country wide and to help create Ireland as world class Ecotourism destination. They have facilitated the development of an Ecotourism Ireland Quality Label that has been declared a GSTC (Global Sustainable Tourism Council) Recognized Standard as of January 16th, 2012.

Dave Ray, designed and created routes for International Car Rallies in Ireland throughout the 1960’s and 70’s. A competitive driver and navigator, he has a wealth of knowledge about the backroads in the West of Ireland. Together they use their local expertise and first hand knowledge of the West of Ireland to combine the best of routes, restaurants, points of interest and local accommodations as part of their product offering.

Translating the ‘Tulip System,’ a car rally navigation system into route directions, CycleWest Ireland. This unique Route Directional System, developed by CycleWest Ireland in 1998 and successfully tried and tested enables our guests to penetrate into those remote regions, where traffic density is low and Ireland can be seen at its unspoiled best.
