Family Connemara Adventure

Day One: Your Adventure Begins!
Ireland is truly the land of fairy tales and dreamland.  This trip is about exploring, discovering, learning and having heaps of fun as a family. Meeting and greeting day and a prepartion for journey that lies ahead.

Day Two:
Magnificent Coastal Views

Commencing at the gateway to Connemara where scenery is wild and unspoiled. Views today include the Twelve Ben mountains, rugged coastline, and mountain lakes.  We then transfer by ferry to the Aran Islands - a group of three islands located at the mouth of Galway Bay. Exlpore the beaches, old church ruins and visit the highest cliffs on the Western Islands. Overnight stay on the Aran Islands.

Day Three: Wild Purple Heather
From Rossaveal (Aran Island ferry port) you transverse a route bordered by heather and bracken, through scenery that is wild and barren. Lunch at Screebe House followed by a bike ride through the peatlands and bogs. Overnight stay in Cashel.

Day Four: Rest and Relaxation
Today is a rest day with splendid opportunities to explore the little antique stores and coffee shops, of Clifden town. Begin your day with an enjoyable breakfast of fresh fruit & yogurt. Learn about the history of the Connemara pony.  Optional activities today include Horse back riding along the shores of Omey Island from the village of Cleggan; Golfing at the Connemara Golf Club at Ballyconneely or Fly fishing at Ballynahinch Castle. A variety of children and family activities on offer today!

Day Five: Sand Sea and Surf
Early morning start to Roundstone village, the most picturesque fishing harbour in Connemara. Sailing boats once loaded turf (peat) to carry to the Aran Islands. Visit the Roundstone Musical Instrument Centre - home of the traditional Bodhran. Depart Roundstone to Ballyconneely village via stunning beaches at Dog’s Bay and Gurteen Bay. Follow the dramatic and rugged coastline to Ballyconneely. Learn about Grace O'Malley, the pirate queen of the west and the ferocious O'Flaherty's - the west of Irelands battling warriors.

Day Six: Landscape and History
Today our route will take us through the Lough Inagh Valley, one of the finest valleys in Ireland. Explore Connemara National park. Here we learn about the native birds, flowers and animals of Connemara, as well as the history of blanket bogs. Visit Kylemore Abbey and the Victorian Gardens. Bike around Killary Fiord surrounded by Maamturk and Mweelrea mountains. Through the village of Leenane, the setting for the Oscar winning film "The Field" with Richard Harris. Ease into the evening as you watch the sunset. Local chefs will delight you with their freshly prepared Connemara fare.

Day Seven: Farewell!
Sadly we must bid you farewell today! Rail & coach connections to Shannon & Dublin. Please allow one more day for flight travel. Private Transfers available upon request.
